Breaking the radio silence with some VERY exciting updates…
This past month has been crazy busy for so many people and businesses, as we're all preparing for the easing of restrictions (bring on April 12th!!!) and planning for a successful summer ahead. On our end, we’ve been working really hard to get the venue ready to welcome people for showings again, and we’ve also been making really good progress with the refurb works, which we can’t wait to share with you.
So, about these exciting updates…
Firstly, we finally uncovered the new concrete aggregate flooring in the main arch! It was finished back at the end of last year, but we needed to keep it protected during most of the building works. This same concrete flooring flows all the way into and throughout our private courtyard, and now that we are nearing completion in this arch we were finally able to unveil it:
The second unveiling of the week is our Zinc bar top, which we kept safely wrapped up until now… Of course we had seen samples and pictures of it before pressing go on its production, but we hadn’t seen it unwrapped and in its place yet…
Here's Pippa doing us the honour of unravelling our new bar top!!!!
We're SO happy with the distressed Zinc look, and feel it harmonises so well with the reclaimed scaffold wood and our old Apothecary back bar. Let us know what you guys think of it, we’re really curious to know!
You might have gathered from a couple of our hints on Instagram that there was something special about to be revealed, something that will be gracing the very top of our railway arch…As you might have guessed… it's a chandelier!!!
Reminiscent of the 1970’s, and matching the grandeur of the doudle-height railway arch, a Mother of Pearl chandelier of 1.5 meters in diameter will be hanging down from the very top of our arch.
We went to see how its fabrication was coming along last month, have a little look below:
We honestly cannot wait to see it finished and installed next week, we’ll be taking lots of videos and pictures to share the installation with you.
Did we already mention that there will be a rigging system in place so this chandelier will be interchangeable with our massive new disco ball? Excited is an understatement.
Talking about lighting, we recently got uplighters put in along the sides of the main railway arch, and were pleasantly surprised the first evening they were switched on… We walked in there once the sun went down and the warm light shone against the bricks, creating such an amazing atmosphere. We couldn’t quite put our finger on what it was…Some said the feeling inside the arch reminded them of a French Chateau, and someone even said a vineyard in Italy… Not bad for a railway arch in Brixton.
From our bespoke 1.5m diameter chandelier, to the rustic door handles, we really feel like it’s all coming together as it nears completion.
We'll be back next week with our chandelier reveal and a closer look at the progress in the other arches...
Wishing you a lovely Easter weekend!
